Birth Year
[edit]He was born James Richard Newman in 1985, according to the English and Wales Civil Registration Birth Index, 1916 - 2007 on Ancestry.com. --109.147.89.97 (talk) 14:43, 28 February 2020 (UTC)
Should 0 points be mentioned in the lead?
[edit]Several people have been edit warring over this. Per WP:BRD, it is better to start discussing these kinds of things on the talk page instead of edit warring over it. I personally think it should be excluded because it isn't that noteworthy for the lead paragraph, which is supposed to introduce him and not go into too much detail.

- This is the only song with 0 points from jury and zero points from the public. So very unique. But you are right, it is mentioned in the main text below. Perhaps just his participation in Eurovision is enough in intro. You may revert it if you want to the original format presentation. werldwayd (talk) 00:12, 24 May 2021 (UTC)
- I kind of lean toward if you're going to mention Eurovision, you may as well mention that it is notably the only song under the new system to score zero points. Else, I would just omit Eurovision entirely from the lead. I'm not hugely concerned about this, so I won't be editing this again. Tewdar (talk) 08:34, 24 May 2021 (UTC)
Internationally Eurovision is likely what he's most famous for, so it makes sense to have it in the lead and with it mentioned in detail in the opening paragraph. Miffedoff (talk) 14:25, 24 May 2021 (UTC)
To add to the above, seen as my edit on this the 0 points being from both the jury and the public should be in the lead - it's a unique moment in history and likely what he'll be remembered for across Europe. It absolutely should be in the opening para that he received 0 on both score systems due to the rarity of a song doing so badly Miffedoff (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 14:29, 24 May 2021 (UTC)
Maybe so, but you will need to find and cite a reliable source for his scoring 0 on both score systems. See WP:REFBEGIN to learn how. Meticulo (talk) 14:50, 24 May 2021 (UTC)Please ignore my silly comment. I was wrong, and should have checked the article more closely before posting. Tewdar and Jochem van Hees are both correct. Sorry, Miffedoff. Meticulo (talk) 12:02, 27 May 2021 (UTC)
- The BBC article already verifies this claim.Tewdar (talk) 14:52, 24 May 2021 (UTC)
- The lead generally doesn't include references as it's supposed to be just a summary. ―Jochem van Hees (talk) 14:54, 24 May 2021 (UTC)
- Perhaps your edits would not be reverted by bots if your style was a little more appropriate for an encyclopedia... Tewdar (talk) 14:50, 24 May 2021 (UTC)
